When I am out and about in the world I observe the people around me. Whether in a restaurant, on a train or in an airport everyone seems to be engaged with their phones. The world around them falls away. These glimpses of those around us speak volumes about the culture we are living in. We are all so connected to what is going on on our devices but disconnected to our surroundings and those in it.

I use oil paint on paper or canvas to portray the figures and body language that show this engagement. My style is direct and suggestive.
